Ticket to work
Ticket to Work is a voluntary employment-related program initiated through the Social Security Administration (SSA). Nationwide, more than 9-million adults (ages 18-64 years) SSA beneficiaries with disabilities are eligible. The program:
- Gives people the training and support they need to go to work.
- Is available to SSA Beneficiaries with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
- Assists participants in finding employment, vocational rehabilitation and other support services from public and private providers.
When you get a Ticket, you are free to choose if and when to use it.
If you decide to use it, you need to take the Ticket to a participating Employment Network (EN) in your local area. (link to sites) Opportunity Services is an EN.
Once you identify your choice for EN assignment, you receive assistance in developing a written Individual Work Plan (IWP), or an Individual Plan for Employment (IPE).
Together, you and the EN set employment goals.
Upon completion of this step, the Ticket is considered "in use."
